Avowed – Fantasy Skull Installation
Bringing a mythical world to life with 3D printing on a 24-hour deadline.
How do you 3D print an intricate, life-sized fantasy skull in under a day?
For the launch of Avowed, an epic fantasy video game, we were approached by Creative Giants Arts to fabricate key installation elements a human-sized skull and rib cage with imaginative detailing. These components would become centrepieces in a striking real-world activation, capturing the essence of the game’s otherworldly aesthetic.
The Printing Challenges: Turning 80 hours of printing into a single-day sprint
The shapes themselves were manageable, but the catch? The entire piece had to be printed, assembled, and delivered within 24 hours. Every hour and every detail mattered.
The Solution: Divide, align, and conquer with 10 machines in motion
We split the skull and ribs into multiple parts, embedding registration keys for precise, seamless assembly. To meet the tight turnaround, we adopted a distributed manufacturing approach, distributing the workload across 10 of our printers and achieving nearly 80 hours of output in just one day.
The Result: Delivered overnight, installed on time, and impossible to ignore
From design optimisation to machine coordination, our team delivered both parts skull and ribs, flawlessly within the tight timeframe, ready for the spotlight. The client’s installation went live on schedule and turned heads with its craftsmanship.
