Storehouse: A Living Theatre of Design
A parametric structure built for immersive performance and circular making
Digitally Fabricated Installation by Fab.Pub
Can a theatre set become a story of circular creation?
Storehouse is a large-scale parametric bridge installation created for Sage & Jester’s immersive performance in Deptford, London. Designed by Mamou-Mani Architects and digitally fabricated by Fab.Pub, the project demonstrates how expressive architecture can also embody circular values.
After the show’s run, Sage & Jester partnered with Fab.Pub to ensure the structure would not go to landfill. Through our Take-Back Scheme, all materials were collected and returned to our in-house recycling facility, ready to be transformed into new print-ready pellets for future projects.
The Challenge: Designing for Circular Performance
Storehouse needed to function as both a performance set and a statement of sustainability. The brief required a modular, lightweight structure that could be quickly assembled and responsibly dismantled once the production ended.
The Solution: Smart Fabrication, Sustainable Reuse
Fab.Pub translated Mamou-Mani’s knot-inspired geometry into hundreds of CNC-cut interlocking panels, fabricated locally for accuracy and minimal waste. Once the final curtain closed, Sage & Jester collaborated with Fab.Pub to return the full installation under the Take-Back Scheme, with an agreed fee to manage its sustainable recycling and transformation.
This initiative ensured zero material waste and turned Storehouse into a circular fabrication success story, proving how creative partnerships can extend the life of every project.
The Impact: Performance that Lasts Beyond the Stage
Storehouse became both the heart of the performance and a landmark of responsible making. The elevated bridge formed the emotional peak of the audience's journey, while the entire installation embodied the principles of precision, collaboration, and reuse.
It showed how digital fabrication can transform architectural storytelling into a regenerative act, where creativity and sustainability share the same stage.
Let’s Build with Purpose
If you’re developing an installation, exhibition, or architectural feature that explores sustainability through design and fabrication, Fab.Pub would love to collaborate.
